“Changing the Markets is a Way to Change the World” - Nili Gilbert
2022 may be a pivotal year for our world. Change isn't coming, it is here. As the pandemic lingers we emerge into a new state of crisis in our world as a full-blown war rages in Ukraine, and many others around the world, all the while the climate crisis no longer looms but is causing havoc in every part of the world. Yet we are still trying to make the case that the only way forward for business is to be incorporating social and sustainable purpose at its core, not only committing but taking action.
Despite all of the turmoil, there are many individuals, companies, and movements that are creating actionable tools and solutions that do move the dial and the dialogue forward. Companies are stepping up to make bold decisions for the climate and for people, whether it's donating funds, providing unconditional support, removing funding and investment from unjust and violent places, or taking a stand in solidarity. What has become extremely (at least we hope so) clear is that our world is deeply interconnected and so are we as humans, with shared experiences, grievances, and hopes. Even the smallest of actions taken by many make a difference. Nothing has proven that more than the collective actions in Ukraine.
When there is so much unrest, so much sadness, and so much to do, we all need to support each other, provide a little push and a little hand to get us moving along our journey. There is a lot of work to be done. So this week I have compiled a list of impact-focused resources and tools to provide us some guidance on the path to creating change small and large through business.
